Scope of Work:

1) remove existing concrete with cantilever coping. 2) excavate poor soil conditions.  3) install drains for proper drainage  4)  pour cantilever coping with splitface edge detail.  5)  create a jump rock to replace the diving board.

Description:

This was a challenging project, the entire property was meticulously landscaped and well maintained.  We needed to create a plywood road that was roughly 200’ that would need to be packed up each day so that we did not kill or damage the lawn. 800 sq ft of concrete would need to be demolished and brought through a 48” gate and brought to the front of the property where a dumpster would be in the driveway.

Once the concrete was demolished and removed from the backyard, we would need to excavate approximately 4 yards of clay soil utilizing the same plywood path.  The next step would be to install drainage pipes that would later receive water from the channel drains.  We then brought in 3 yards of clean ¾” stone for the sub base.

The stamped concrete pool coping was poured utilizing the Z Poolform system.  A splitface liner was used to produce a natural looking coping.  Our random fieldstone pattern was chosen due to the highly irregular shape of the pool patio.

The final touch to this project was the jump rock that would replace the old diving board.  Diving boards are being installed less often due to the risks, insurance issues, and clients opting for a more natural looking pool area.  Most older pools do not meet the new standards for diving boards resulting in issues with insurance companies.  More and more clients are going the route of a jump rock.  The jump rock is created on site with a styrofoam base and coated with a structural concrete mix, followed by a carve coat.  The carve coat can be finished in many different ways to fit with any aesthetic.  We utilize all different types of stone for inspiration.
